chocolate custard topped with strawberries Before summer officially comes, strawberry season must precede, and I must horde boxes of strawberries to be stocked in the fridge and to be eaten all throughout the day. Though strawberry-and-cream is classic and one cannot have enough, I thought of other ways to consume strawberries. I know that chocolate and strawberries go well together so I recently prepared Chocolate Custard topped with fresh Strawberries. I can tell you that it was divine and a perfect...

When I first saw Del Monte Fiesta Fruit Cocktail in the grocery shelf 3 years ago, I immediately bought one and tried the recipe a friend gave me. She called it Fruit Cocktail Float, but I want to call it Fiesta Fruit Cocktail Float because when I eat it, it’s like fiesta in my mouth, with all the fruits and the creamy, sweet sauce and the soft, chewy biscuit, oh boy, you will just love the texture and taste of this dessert and it’s so easy as 1-2-3! I usually prepare this dessert whenever...

When you are craving for fruits and something sweet and creamy at the same time, this fruit salad with cream and condensed milk will be perfect. I bought two cans of fruit cocktail in my recent grocery shopping in Metro. Since it’s summer, I thought of making a cold dessert with one of the cans of fruit cocktail and I want it easy and fast. So, for my creamy fruit salad, I just whipped 180ml of cream to 150ml of condensed milk until they were fully mixed. Then, I drained a can of fruit cocktail,...

If you are like me who is a fan of the kulfi from the small ice cream shop in the corner of the petrol station in Bowring near MG Road here in Bangalore, you will wonder where the shop has gone the next time you visited it. For years, every time I go to MG Road, I would always make it a point to stop by for a kulfi in Bowring in that shop in the corner of Indian Oil petrol station. I couldn’t miss it because it was always crowded that’s why when one day I noticed that the ice cream shop...

Jam is really sweet and sticky, isn’t it? Yeah, yeah :p I’m not really fond of jam because it’s too sweet that I feel I am just eating sugar and corn syrup, and aside from that, I always think that those fruits that are made to jams are the rotten ones.  However, from my recent trip to grocery store, I found this bottle of whole strawberry preserve and thought of trying it. Well, the bottle of this whole strawberry preserve really has whole strawberries, as in whole, not cut...

caramel with lemon custard I recently saw a travel show in TLC which showed a Mexican flan recipe and I thought it was very similar to a caramel custard which are both made of eggs, milk, and baked/steamed with a caramelized sugar. The host of the show said that Spanish brought it to Mexico, so I wonder who brought it to India. Here in India, we have an eggless version of caramel custard, in this case, there is a custard powder which can be bought in store. The custard powder is then just dissolve...

I believe that one of the reasons why man lives is to indulge sweet treats, and aside from chocolate, ice cream, and cake, the next best sweet treat is candies. When sugar and  corn syrup were invented, people had not stopped to have a simple treat in the form of candy. No children will refuse to any sweet and colorful candies, and not only kids but adults like me too. So, last time I went to a candy store, I bought several grams of assorted candies. I got gum balls, rainbow strips, jellybeans,...

What is a carnival or a festival without cotton candy? This pink cotton-like sweet that is made of sugar, poured on a twirling machine to produce a very soft cloud-like web, and circled around a piece of stick to form a big pillow-like shape, has been an all time favorite not only by kids but also by kids at heart. I, myself, is a big fan of cotton candy, and every time I see someone walking holding a stick of this pink cloud candy, I would search where it come from or if I could not locate that...
