Jam is really sweet and sticky, isn’t it? Yeah, yeah :p I’m not really fond of jam because it’s too sweet that I feel I am just eating sugar and corn syrup, and aside from that, I always think that those fruits that are made to jams are the rotten ones.  However, from my recent trip to grocery store, I found this bottle of whole strawberry preserve and thought of trying it. When I attended the last Mathsya Mela, I remember of the food art displayed in the food court. They are carvings of different animals from the different vegetables. They look really amazing and beautiful.

I’m a big fan of Gouda cheese, well, most cheeses, but I found gouda cheese as best accompaniment with the cheddar cheese for pizza, cheese sandwich, spaghetti sauces, cheese and wine, and the simple cheese and crackers. Few weeks ago, there seemed to be a shortage of gouda cheese in the supermarket that I panic bought the only whole block of gouda cheese available in the cheese counter in Spar. Now, with only 3 months left before it expires, I am wondering now on how can I finish it…...

Another vegetarian dish that is favorite of mine is the Chana Masala or Chole Masala or Chickpea Curry. I love it with roti or with hot boiled rice. Preparing Chana Masala needs planning since the chickpeas must be soak for overnight, if not, it will not be cooked. Prawn is one of my favorite ingredients. It is easy to cook and so tasty too. One of my favorite dish is prawn curry. What I love this curry is that the gravy is full of prawn’s powerful taste that even without eating the prawn, you’ll feel that you have it. I love to eat prawn curry with steamed rice, since the rice absorbs the flavor of the prawn through its gravy. Want to try prawn curry? Pasta is one of my favorite ingredients. I usually use spaghetti but for a change, a fusilli or penne are great too. I occasionally cook lasagna, only when there are friends and guests around but for every day meal, a spaghetti or fusilli always comes handy and easy to cook. Last night, I had some prawns I bought last weekend, so I thought a fusilli pasta with tomato sauce would be a great dinner. I also made a garlic bread stick as a side for the pasta. caramel with lemon custard I recently saw a travel show in TLC which showed a Mexican flan recipe and I thought it was very similar to a caramel custard which are both made of eggs, milk, and baked/steamed with a caramelized sugar. The host of the show said that Spanish brought it to Mexico, so I wonder who brought it to India. Here in India, we have an eggless version of caramel custard, in this case, there is a custard powder which can be bought in store. The custard powder is then just dissolve...

I have been wanting to bake a perfect cake and have actually been trying for several times with much failure and waste of ingredients. Until recently I saw an episode from Rachel Allen Bakes in TLC which showed baking of chocolate vanilla marble cake. I thought it was easy to make but considering that I don’t have the regular oven, I was quite nervous of trying it. I use my griller/oven for all my roasting, baking, and reheating. I believe that one of the reasons why man lives is to indulge sweet treats, and aside from chocolate, ice cream, and cake, the next best sweet treat is candies. When sugar and  corn syrup were invented, people had not stopped to have a simple treat in the form of candy. No children will refuse to any sweet and colorful candies, and not only kids but adults like me too. So, last time I went to a candy store, I bought several grams of assorted candies.
