On the corner of the 6th block opposite Sony world Koramangala is the “America’s healthiest restaurant” as they claim, the Au Bon Pain (pronunced as o-bo-pe).  Au Bon Pain started in Boston and has been selling fresh baguettes and croissants since the 70’s. Finally, it has found its way to India through Bangalore.

au-bon-pain coffee

Their coffees are cheaper than other cafe but taste really good, though their pastries and breads have the same prices in most cafes. They use Arabica coffee beans in their brew. You can have espresso, americano, or mini cappucino for only 24 rupees. Other coffee drinks ranges from 45-55.

I had a cappucino and blueberry. As I’ve said, the coffee was perfect, but I was disappointed in muffin. The blueberry was a small slab of jam in the middle on the muffin. It was hardly a blueberry. I had better blueberry muffin at the same price. I still need to try their soup in the bread bowl, though the price is quite high for a soup, but I just like a soup in a bread bowl. There are some Indian dishes on the menu such as vegetarian wonderwich, veg and chicken puffs, and biryani but I’m not a fan of Indian dishes in cafes, since they always turn out not really good, and why eat Indian food in westernized cafe when you can have better at lesser price in many restaurants nearby.

So, that’s my morning trip to o-bon-pe.
